Does anyone know how the phrase "bun in the oven" originated? It's kind of funny to see pregnancy announcements where the couple puts a bun in the oven. The greatest one is when the mom goes on a treasure hunt in the kitchen for her gift!
Well, the request for this custom card was for a bun in the oven to congratulate a couple who recently found out they were pregnant. Because of the wide variety of cartridges I have, that was possible!
The oven was cut from the "From My Kitchen" cartridge at 3.75 inches. I followed the same color scheme as the card I food here. I adhered the two pieces of the oven door together and then scored it so that it could open, but I just didn't fold it down.
I had to enlist the help of Howard because I couldn't figure out what to do with the bun. I Googled it to see what others did, and they put in cupcakes and such. He did me a huge favor by just cutting a little piece of white paper in the shape of a bun that I just colored with a Copic marker.
Lastly, the "congrats" was cut from the "Stamping Solutions" cartridge at 0.75 inches. I used the shadow feature as well so that it would add a little bit of depth. Even though it seems a little simplistic because there's no background patterned paper or anything like that, I still like how it came out since it was a specific request. I'm sure it's not as easy to go to the Hallmark store and get a card with an oven on it!

Bringing Home a New Fella
This past Saturday I ran some errands in the late morning and early afternoon since I wasn't up to going the day before. Howard said he'd keep me company, but he had worked overtime on Friday and had to work yesterday as well, so I said I was fine going by myself. I had another free travel-sized item to pick up at Bath & Body Works and items to return at JCPenney too, so that meant stopping by the Disney Store!
Like the majority of our trips there, I just browsed and didn't spend anything. They had some new baby onesies there, so I had to snap some quick pictures of them. The ones that are like the Marie, Stitch, and Kermit onesies are probably the type that can be recreated using the Silhouette. I do think the Little Mermaid one is absolutely adorable though!
The Tigger and Woody onesies were actually in the small clearance section for $9.99! But it just didn't make sense to get it for $10 when we're so far off from having a kid of our own.
If we were having a daughter, I would have purchased this Monsters University shirt too to somewhat match my pink MU shirt. But I know that when we do eventually have our own kids, Disney will still be putting out adorable merchandise.
I moved on over to the adult section. Although Howard and I do not need any new t-shirts, I had to take a picture of this Pixar one!
After some browsing, I went to stand in line to trade Vinylmation. From far away, I could see that the top portion had 3 options from the latest Villains series including Oogie Boogie, Fat Cat, and Pain & Panic (the only one we already have). I contemplated getting Oogie Boogie and was texting Howard about it, but I asked the cast member if I could choose a mystery one and trade for one in the clear portion if I didn't like the mystery one. I know they do that in the parks, but I wasn't sure if they went by the same rules.
She said it was okay, so I chose #2 and out came Peg-Leg Pete from the recently released Ink & Paint series! He came home with me instead of Oogie.
I always enjoy a brief Disney Store adventure to get a little taste of the magic here at home!

A LONG Sunday
Alas, it just didn't work out for me today. I hate when that happens.
I woke up this morning still feeling a lot of the sinus pain I had felt last night. I actually had to put Chinese medicine on my forehead and cheeks just to fall asleep because it hurt so much. It probably doesn't help that we have just a ton of trees and the highway right outside our window, and we breathe that in every day. Unfortunately, my stomach wasn't feeling the greatest either, but I figured I'd be okay. My mom suggested I take Tylenol Sinus, which I usually avoid because I get side effects from EVERY medicine I take even if it's just over-the-counter. But I knew our pastor was starting his sermon series on 2 Corinthians, and I also didn't want to miss Sunday School so I pushed through it. That didn't work out for me in the long run though because the drowsiness I can handle (yes, I even get drowsy from that!), but the heart palpitations made me feel worse. I felt faint by the time we got to Chinatown, and I contemplated going home once we got out of the car.
I did have to sit for a while though, and I kept telling myself I'd feel better soon. Howard and I stayed for the morning service, but then I knew I had to go home afterwards. I couldn't last until possibly 3pm. Hubs had to actually work today, and he was going to go after Sunday School, but we had to alter the plan instead. Thankfully, I have such a patient husband who let me stop and sit down as often as I needed while we were walking to the ferry. We talked on the way because I wanted some distractions from how I was feeling, but I was fading fast.
Howard was going to actually take the ferry with me and then take it back to the city to go to work, but I told him I didn't want him to lose over an hour of time just commuting. He waited with me at the terminal, but I summoned the energy to finish the rest of the commute by myself.
After the ferry, I got on a bus. I did ask for a transfer, but when I got off the first bus, I didn't want to wait for the second one. I just needed to feel that with each minute that passed, I was getting closer to home. It ended up being a smart move because I walked a pretty good distance and got to the bus stop where I would have gotten off without the bus even passing by! Howard checked his app from work and said that it was far off, so I was really glad I just decided to take my time and walk.
Once I got home, I cooled off with a blast of AC, but then I turned it off because I knew it would exacerbate my sinus pressure. I was craving salt, so I had chicken noodle soup. It did help a lot, so I was probably lacking sodium in my system, which didn't help the low blood pressure feelings I was having. I konked out and took a nap and woke up when Howard was home for a while and just kept drinking. I'm sure I was partly dehydrated too since I never drink that much at once.
It felt like such a long day, but I'm so grateful that God sustained me to make it all the way home! Here's hoping that I'll feel better tomorrow!

Quick CVS-ing
I've mentioned before that I don't bother going to CVS anymore unless (1) there's a great deal that doesn't require a lot of work or rolling or (2) they send me free Extra Bucks for doing a survey. Today was one of those days where the deal was just too good to pass up that I actually did it on my card and Howard's card. I also have the extra little card to put on the key ring for my mom as well, so I was able to pick one up for her too. I did go to 3 separate stores including the one in the mall since I had to go to return something there anyway.
The Colgate toothpaste was on sale for $3 this past week, but they were giving everyone a $2 coupon from the red box. This week there was also a $1 off manufacturer's coupon online for any size, so that meant these were completely FREE! I did have to pay $0.18 in tax when I did the transaction in the mall for some reason whereas the other two didn't cost anything. That's okay by me because even if I divide the cost, it's still just $0.06 for the toothpaste that we actually like. Quick and painless ... definitely my kind of couponing and could be yours too!

Accumulating or Using Nail Polish? (Part I)
After buying a bottle of blue nail polish to match the dress I wore to my brother's wedding and a bottle of red polish to match the dress I wore to my sister-in-law's wedding, the desire to have a TON of colors and options just magically appeared! Haha, I became one of those girls who was lured by beautiful colorful displays of nail polish at drug stores. Thankfully, the couponing side of me came out around the same time, so although I have quite a collection, I didn't pay retail value for it because that would be CRAZY! I also purchased many during the CVS beauty clearance and got inexpensive brands like Wet 'n Wild, NYC, and Sinful Colors.
During the end of my last school year, I changed colors every week, which made me happy since I don't accessorize outfits or anything like that. But then I stopped because I didn't take the time to paint them after I took the time to dry my hair. Well, it's about time I started again!
The manicure below was the one I did before our Disney World trip this past January. It's Wet n Wild Megalast "On a Trip" with Maybelline Color Show Polka Dots in "Clearly Spotted."
Since I was missing WDW today (as I do almost every day, haha), I decided to use the same polka dots again but just on a different color. Since I have a coral pink on my toes (Wet n Wild Wild Shine "Dreamy Poppy"), I decided to choose blue for my nails. Clearly, I really like the options from WnW because this is "Teal Slowly and See," which is from the Pop Art Craze collection from last summer that I bought as a reward for getting through jury duty! It was only $0.69, so it was a rather awesome price!
I know I'm jumping on the matte-glitter-bandwagon pretty late, but I love the speckled look without a glitter top coat changing the look of the color itself. Yay, I'm a happy girl!
