Owl Remember You

Despite my newfound appreciation for my Silhouette Cameo, I do look back on the cards I had to make for custom orders and love the fact that my Cricut is much easier for things like that. In comparing the years of using my Cricut vs. the two days I used my Silhouette, the layers on the Cricut are easier to assemble especially in the newer cartridges like "Create a Critter," which I used for the card below.

The customer asked for cards to give to the teachers who worked at the camp with her this past summer, so I tried to find something that would be appropriate for that. I chose to use the owl, which is an image I had never used before. I cut it at 2.75 inches in more "neutral" colors that could be somewhat appropriate for guys and girls. The branch was also cut from the same cartridge at 2 inches.

I used kraft cardstock for the card base since I was running out of white cardstock. Thankfully, Michaels had a paper sale last week continuing into this week so I was able to stock up finally. Is it just me or are they decreasing the number of times I can get paper for $2 or less? Plus, I don't seem to see the 50% off coupons lately, and I'm in need of some Zig chisel-tip glue pens! Lack of supplies helped in this regard though because I much prefer the white layer on the kraft base.

The sentiment is from K. Andrew Design's set called "Scripture Sayings" since the customer said that it was a Christian camp. I probably mentioned it before, but when these stamps were going to be retired, I had to snag them. I love how well they stamp, and of course, the verses themselves.

The 16 cards did take a bit of time to assemble, but I have to say I love when large orders are done and Howard can take a picture of all of them at once!

Treat Bags for My Former Colleagues

Last October, I was called to sub for a teacher at my former school. I knew about it ahead of time, so since it was the first time seeing all my former colleagues and friends since the last school graduation in June, I decided to put together treat bags for them to give a little encouragement. The directions from the box are from Splitcoaststampers, which you can find here.

I had a lot of Welch's fruit snacks and Twix bars but not many Nips and Hershey's (other than the Welch's, thanks CVS for the free/almost free candy!), so the above is what went in the treat boxes for the middle school teachers since I was a middle school teacher for 6 years.

I think I was actually short one or two, but I was giving a custom card order to one of friends who I was actually covering for, so I didn't give one to her. Sorry, Jess! As you can see, I made red and pink ones, so I used yellow ribbon for the former and silver ribbon for the latter. I really enjoy seeing items after they're mass produced! It took a good amount of time, but I had fun.

The bird and heart image is from Inkadinkado, and the sentiment is from K Andrew Designs. The set is called "Scripture Sayings." Though the bulk of my sentiment stamps are from Pink by Design, this was one that I definitely had to purchase because I love all the scripture choices!

When I subbed that day, I got there early in the morning and put them in their mailboxes so that they'd have a surprise treat when they checked them in the morning or during lunch. I love having a reason to make 3-D projects especially if it means putting a smile on someone's face!

Karber Challenge 51: You are delightful

For my last card to enter in the Karber Challenge, I used "Happy Millie" once again.  I used kraft cardstock to make the 4.5x5.5 base and added faux stitching lines around the edges after corner chomping one corner.

I decided to focus on green for this card, so that's why I colored her dress and headband green, chose a patterned paper that featured green, and used some of my green bling!  The sentiment is from K. Andrew Designs set called "Amazing You."

Though the cards I made today weren't too complicated, they're a lot different than what I normally make since I varied the shape of the card and didn't feel the need to use a white mat for each one.  I had so much fun, but of course, I'm eager to know who will win the great prize!
